EITI International Secretariat Conducts Pre-Validation Mission in Liberia
A team from the EITI International Secretariat has arrived in Liberia for a Pre-Validation mission, taking place from September 26, 2025, to October 3, 2025. This mission prepares Liberia for its upcoming validation by the EITI next year.
The team will meet with key stakeholders to outline a plan for the validation and assist the LEITI Secretariat in its preparations. Validation is the process by which the EITI Secretariat assesses implementing countries against the EITI Standards to determine whether a country is compliant or non-compliant. Countries are graded based on their level of implementation.
As part of the engagement, Mr. Sebastian Sahla, Policy Manager on Energy Transition at the EITI International Secretariat, met with staff members of the LEITI Secretariat. The discussions focused on the status of EITI implementation in Liberia, an overview of the mission, and a practical presentation on how Liberia can leverage anti-corruption and community engagement to strengthen implementation.
Engagements with members of the Multi-Stakeholders Group, Civil Society Organizations, Members of Parliament, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, the Independent Administrator, and the Secretariat will continue next week.
