LEITI Engages Students at Stella Maris Polytechnic University on the EITI Implementation in Liberia

In support of LEITI’s outreach and communication plan, the Head of Secretariat, Jeffrey N. Yates, had the privilege of presenting to students at Catholic run Stella Maris Polytechnic University today, March 27, 2025, upon the invitation of Mr. Dorsla Farcarthy, a lecturer.

The presentation focused on how the EITI Standard helps resource-rich countries maximize benefits from their natural resources while ensuring transparency and accountability. Key topics covered included the EITI Value Chain, the composition and role of the Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG), as well as LEITI’s progress toward Contract Transparency, Beneficial Ownership Transparency, and its contributions to policy reforms in Liberia’s extractive sector.

The session was highly interactive, with students showing great interest in LEITI’s activities. Many expressed their appreciation for the Secretariat’s work and requested another engagement for deeper insights. They also showed enthusiasm about visiting the Secretariat to learn more.

As part of its commitment to public awareness and stakeholder engagement, LEITI will continue this outreach to universities and high schools across the country.
