The Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (LEITI), with generous support from GIZ, has officially kicked off Phase Two of the dissemination of its 13th, 14th, and 15th EITI Reports across Liberia. This phase is set to cover Sinoe, Margibi, Grand Bassa, and River Cess Counties, bringing critical extractive sector data closer to the people.

The journey began in Sinoe County, where community members gathered to engage with findings from the reports and share their concerns.

Key Issues Raised by Citizens:

1. Deplorable road conditions hampering access and development.
2. Lack of transparency and accountability around the use of Social Development Funds (SDFs).
3. Low employment opportunities for locals in concession areas.
4. Environmental damage, linked to mining activities in Government Camp.
5. Extraction of black sand without community awareness of its significance and benefits.
